you ps2 will look very awful in you 50″ HDTV, because ps2 can’t handle HDTV resolution, some solution is to get the Sony HD Composition cable, help a bit but still look worst than CRT or regular tv with PS2. you tv is design for HD content mostly, so anything non HD, is gonna like crap.

You can use it as LONG as you avoid Games with NON MOVING OBJECTS….
You want the scoreboards to pop up, then pop down….
The guns to change or come up when fired but not permanently sticking out.
You want MOTION ON EVERYTHING
That will avoid burns to your new TV set.
I don’t understand why you didn’t select LCD panel TV if you’re more into gaming….

You do have a minor risk of image retention on your plasma set, however you will still have this with the ps3. Generaly after the first 100 hours of use your probability of image retention decreases dramaticaly. There are also some sets out there that have active features to combat image retention. Look in your owners manual to see if your set is one of these. If it is hook up and play away if not then wait a month or so till your tv is broken in.
