how to connect my LG Plasma HDTV to Rogers cable?

I bought a 42″ LG Plasma HDTV and connectrd the rogers cable wire to the vcr and then connected the vcr to the tv, however no channels are coming out, can anyone guide to the steps of setting up the menu on the tv to find those channels please

   Go to your main menu & look for ” initial start up” or ” auto programming”. Start that process, which will scan your cable to see the channels available. Is the TV on channel 3 ? It should be. After the scan, your TV should remember those channels in the memory of the tuner.
