How do I connect my computer to my Panasonic Class 720p Plasma HDTV ?

I need to connect my computer to my Panasonic Class 720p Plasma HDTV but when I connect them I don’t see any picture when I turn it on! What do I do!? Help!!
when I go to change my settings I don’t see a general thing!

   do to your desktop, right click, and under properties, go to settings, advanced, go to the graphics media accelerator device, click on graphics properties , and then click on television.
