are all toslink digital audio out the same size? plasma hdtv?

   No. There are two types: toslink and mini toslink. Be sure that first, it’s an optical out, and 2nd, that you remove the plastic dust caps (if any), and 3rd, that you have the right connecting end. There are toslink to toslink, toslink to mini, and mini to mini cables.

   **Never force the cable in.**
